Our Purpose
Food Waste Innovation aims to harness the best scientific expertise to provide effective solutions to Aotearoa, New Zealand’s food waste problems. Our research provides a credible evidence base for decision-makers in Aotearoa:
Advising government and international committees on waste reduction targets, measurements, and policies
Communicating to the Aotearoa public about reduction initiatives
Providing consultancy services to councils, businesses, and industry organisations on waste-related issues.
Our Research Themes
Our Structure
Our Food Waste Innovation Research Theme is led by a dedicated steering committee comprised of three highly accomplished researchers from the University of Otago and an international representative in Australia.
