University of Otago second year student Andreas Wijngaarden worked with Foodstuffs NZ and upcycled food company Citizen Collective over the summer to collect data about consumer perceptions of upcycled food items in supermarkets. Citizen launched their upcycled beer in New World and PAK’nSAVE supermarkets around New Zealand. Andreas, along with Theme Industry Rep and FoodStuffs NZ Waste Minimisation Manager Francesca Goodman-Smith, joined the Citizen team at instore sampling sessions to survey consumers about upcycled food.
