Food Waste Innovation at the Science Teller Festival

We had a great time on Friday at the Science Teller Festival, organised by Science Communication and the Centre for Sustainability. Our Director Associate Professor Miranda Mirosa was part of the ‘Food’ panel discussion in the morning along with other esteemed members of the food sustainability community in Dunedin.

In the afternoon, Food Waste Innovation had a stall as part of the market event section of the festival. the public enjoyed playing our ‘Flat Hacks Fridge Game’ where they learned tips to unpack their groceries to combat food waste, or they hopped on our ‘smoothie bike’ to turn commonly wasted food items into a delicious berry and banana smoothie!

We also had a stall the previous day with a similar set up for the family friendly market day at the conclusion of the AWIS Women in Science conference.

Thank you to our student volunteers Steph McLeod and Teilah Ferguson for their help with the market stalls!

Catch our fun interactive food waste games at the next market day event.
