Food Waste Innovation Postgraduate student Grace Clare has developed a resource for food rescue organisations to be better prepared for future crises in the food rescue sector. Grace did her BSc Honours dissertation in 2020 looking at the impact of COVID19 on the food rescue sector. Using her findings of ‘lessons learned’ she came up with a crisis management toolkit to feedback to the sector. The resource provides a framework of best practices and recommendations to better equip the food rescue sector in managing future disruptions. Recommendations are categorised into action to be taken before, during and then after crises.

This resource will be disseminated to the food rescue sector by representative body Aotearoa Food Rescue Alliance (AFRA).
