Stop Food Waste Day 2022

The Team: Liz Cunliffe, Molly Goodison, Shaina Ebron, Emily Doughty and Lance Aya. Absent: Emma Roberts

International STOP FOOD WASTE Day is held on the 28th of April each year, initiated by US based food service organisation Compas Group. The kaupapa of this movement is to “educate and ignite change in the fight against wasted food”.

Each year, the cohort of Food Science Honours students taking the FOSC400 Food Waste Module are charged with finding a way to advocate for food waste reduction. This year’s cohort are taking to social media to promote their ‘Food Waste Flat Hacks’. The team have chosen a group of Dunedin based social media influencers to participate in their online event ‘Your 10c Worth’. They have created some great vegan recipes complete with ‘food waste flat hacks’ and ‘wack food waste facts’ for the foodies to try and post about on instagram throughout the day.
