Submission to Government’s proposal to separate business food waste

Food Waste Innovation have made a detailed submission to the transforming recycling report consultation. We focused our submission on Part 3 of the report which pertains to a proposal to mandate the separation of food waste from other waste in businesses. We wanted to emphasize to the Government that any new policy and investment in infrastructure should firstly prioritize prevention, should be evidenced based and have built in evaluation processes in order to understand the efficacy of any interventions and finally should be inline with international standards such as SDG 12.3, and the food waste hierarchy. We look forward to progress from central Government on food waste policy and infrastructure and are here to provide our research expertise to help Aotearoa tackle our food waste problem.
